Model Building Day brings miniatures, technology, and history to life at the Medemblik War Museum
On October 25, 2026, the Medemblik War Museum will be entirely dedicated to model building during Model Building Day. Between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, visitors can discover how miniatures are made, the stories behind the models, and how model building and military history are connected.
During the Model Building Day, there is plenty to experience for young and old. Visitors can, among other things, see how model parts are finished with an airbrush. In the workshop, attention is paid to technology, with vehicles featuring open hoods. Matching models demonstrate how technology and model building complement each other.
Radio and Morse code are also given a prominent place. Visitors can get acquainted with a real Morse code device, try to decipher messages themselves, and view radios that were used in the American army. In addition, models of various means of communication are on display.
A spectacular feature for visitors is the remote-controlled model tanks. These drive around on a special play area and battle each other. There is also a focus on 3D printing: visitors can see how model building parts are made using a 3D printer.

Children also have ample opportunity to participate. At the workshop table, they can be introduced to model building and build their own small model. In addition, there are interactive questions about the various themes, so that young visitors can also learn more about technology, history, and the world of model building through play.
For enthusiasts, there is also a sales booth with model kits. During the day, visitors can vote for the most beautiful model of the day.
