The creative trio Kim Perfors, Catherine Sorgdrager, and Mariska Pronk met on stage and quickly became friends. They create cabaret about womanhood in all its awkward, funny, and sometimes painful forms. With humor, self-mockery, and a healthy dose of bravado, they give women’s voices and experiences a platform. They break down taboos, laugh at what grates, and above all try to do one thing: be less ashamed, live more.
In the cabaret show NAAR DE GETVER, THE GIRLS of yesteryear present the woman as a chest of drawers. They pull open all the drawers: the slob, the sadist, the slut, the intriguing woman, the insecure one, the lazy one, the self-destructive one, the good mother, and the wild beast. Can these coexist?
THE GIRLS challenge each other to be as honest as possible. Would you give your water bottle to a complete stranger in an overheated train compartment? Would you open the door if you are still walking around in your pajamas around noon? Would you betray someone who doesn’t clean up their dog’s poop?
In NAAR DE GETVER, they crank up the party, claim the night, and go home singing.
