Kindertheater Hemels: André het astronautje

Hemels introduces: children’s theatre! A morning for our little visitors.

How do you become a good astronaut? Do you need to know where the planets are? And how do you actually get there, into space?

In *André the Little Astronaut*, a young boy investigates these questions from behind his computer. With the help of the internet, he learns everything he needs to know about space and prepares for his journey to the moon. He is hard at work on aardbol.com. He searches and clicks, and one package after another is delivered. From one box he takes out the Earth; from the next, the scorching sun. The solar system takes shape in fluid movements, accompanied by beautiful music. Objects become magically beautiful. The boy builds and repairs, eventually traveling to the moon in a self-built rocket. Once on the moon, he goes exploring and makes a remarkable discovery.

In this solo performance, featuring the voice of André Kuipers among others, accompanied by soundscapes from composer Daan van West, children are playfully introduced to space travel, life as an astronaut, and our fragile planet. It is a theatrical adaptation of Kuipers’ book *André the Little Astronaut*, in which he shows how wondrously beautiful the Earth is, that technology and science are super fun, and how cool it is to make dreams come true.
