On Saturday, November 7, the Steam Engine Museum traditionally closes the steam season with a spectacular finale. The monumental steam pumping station from 1869 is enchantingly illuminated and can be seen from afar in the darkness. The Abacus street theatre, known from major festivals, is coming to the museum with the spectacular performance Wastelanders, a Parade act with fire and steam from bizarre machines. It is a feast for the eyes, fun for young and old!

Wastelanders

From scrap and waste, often carelessly discarded as residual material, these pirates of the future have constructed the most wondrous and bizarre vehicles. These extraordinary objects are a blend of fantasy and engineering and stimulate your imagination. It is high-level mobile street theater. Between performances, the machines are set up outside on the museum grounds for you to view.

Start of performances : 18:15, 19:15, 20:15 and 21:15.

The museum is under steam; the machines are running, as is the pumping station’s main steam engine. Several machines in the engine garden are also being brought under steam, as is the dredger in the museum harbor, illuminated by hundreds of lights. Hot chocolate and mulled wine are ready in the festively lit visitor center. After Lights Night, the museum will temporarily close its doors to reopen to visitors during the Christmas holidays.

Parking

Parking is available this evening on the grounds at the Regatta Centre. From the boarding point on the south side of the parking lot (stop restaurant De Zoete Zee), you can use the free shuttle bus that runs to and from the museum starting at 6:00 PM.
