Marie Nilsen; solo op Harp in een Moederdagconcert

  • 10 May 2026
    • 15:00 – 16:15

Marie Nilsen is a harpist from Alkmaar who has become a sought-after musician on international orchestral stages. Her musical education began in the Netherlands and was solidly grounded at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she earned her Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Erika Waardenburg. Parallel to this, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology at the University of Amsterdam.

Since then, Marie has built up a diverse and impressive orchestral practice. She regularly performs as assistant principal harpist and second harpist with leading orchestras in Scandinavia and Germany, including the Oslo Philharmonic, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, and the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.

Her talent was recognized at an early age: she won several prizes at the Rosa Spier Harp Competition and took first prize at the Harpegio Competition in Belgium. In this program, Marie presents a selection of solo works that stem directly from her orchestral career as a harpist in symphonic and operatic productions. She performs exclusively pieces based on operas, which originally focused on vocal and orchestral lines.

In these arrangements and paraphrases, the rich, theatrical sound world of the opera house is translated into the intimate sound palette of the harp, in which both the singing voice and the orchestra resonate.

This concert also includes 22 free tickets for young visitors up to 25 years old!
