Matthieu Acosta – Matthieu Acosta Solo

Matthieu Acosta grew up in a family of guitarists, as a result of which music and the guitar have always played a central role in his life. Matthieu started playing classical guitar at a young age and, at the age of 14, chose Flamenco after being introduced to the magnificent music of Paco de Lucia. Matthieu studied at Codarts in Rotterdam from the HMD up to the Master of Music, under the guidance of the grandmaster Paco Peña.

Paco Peña has always played, and continues to play, a very special role in Matthieu’s development as a flamenco guitarist. Paco Peña encouraged Matthieu to forge his own path, and this led to the creation of his own compositions.

Matthieu has drawn inspiration from incorporating elements from other musical idioms, such as classical music, Brazilian music, and South American folk music, into his compositions, without breaking with the clear boundaries of flamenco.

During Matthieu Acosta’s concert, you hear the various elements from other musical idioms clearly and in detail. Matthieu speaks passionately about the creation of his music, the history of Flamenco, and the different rhythms and styles of Flamenco. In short, a very musical and educational performance with interaction with the audience.
