Dutch pride and artist through and through, Ellen ten Damme lives with complete dedication for the stage, art, and her audience. She draws upon an endless arsenal of theatricality, masquerades, cabaret, variety acts, and acrobatics, strongly framed by music. Sensitive, daring, funny, and boundless. This autumn, she is visiting smaller theaters. We are lucky.

Ellen ten Damme (1967) grew up far from the spotlight in Roden, Drenthe, as an athletic and musical prodigy. During and after attending the Amsterdam Kleinkunstacademie, she gained national fame as a singer and actress, among other things. At heart, she has always been a musician. She writes her own songs, plays the violin, piano, and guitar, and is one of the best singers of her generation. Her supple and intense voice seems capable of handling any genre, from rock ‘n’ roll to opera, and appears able to take on any color, from raw and energetic to serene lyricism. Few are able to bring music and lyrics to the stage as powerfully as Ten Damme. Her performances are always framed by high-quality musicality – solo at the grand piano, or surrounded by a rock-solid band, orchestra, or big band.
