On August 15 and 16, the Medemblik War Museum will be entirely dedicated to history, experience, and adventure. During a large-scale outdoor event, the field opposite the museum will be transformed into a lively military encampment, where visitors can experience firsthand how history can come to life. Combined with reenactors from Pontoon Group 40-45, demonstrations, and interactive activities, it promises to be an impressive weekend for young and old.

There is plenty to do throughout the entire weekend. Children can go on a discovery tour of various activities with a special stamp card. For example, they can sail in real storm boats, make their own dog tag, decipher secret messages using Morse code and radio equipment, and test their skills on the mine detection field. There is also an obstacle course and army face paint available, allowing young visitors to feel like they are part of the experience for a moment.

In addition to the activities, there are continuous demonstrations of special historical vehicles and equipment. Visitors can get acquainted with the Leroy compression truck, GMC Army trucks, and a GMC engine block, among other things. They can also see smoke machines and an authentic field kitchen in operation.

Those wishing to relax in between can visit the museum café for a snack and a drink. The event thus offers a complete day out for families, military history enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to learn more about the past in an interactive way. War Museum Medemblik invites everyone to experience this unique historical event and see history literally come to life. Visitors will receive a wristband for entry to the event upon presentation of their ticket.

The event will take place during the museum’s regular opening hours on both days.
