In the chaos of these wartime days, a gripping story unfolded of courage and weakness, hope and despair, but also of pure survival. For three days and three nights, Dutch soldiers and officers fought on this hill against an overwhelming and brutal force. The result was one of the most fiercely contested episodes in Dutch military history.
Rob Janssen, battlefield guide and co-author of the book “Stoplijn Grebbeberg,” paints a powerful and human picture in his work of what happened on and around the mountain. On Friday, February 27, 2026, Rob Janssen will give a lecture at the Medemblik War Museum, bringing these dramatic days to life. Visitors will gain unique insight into the events, supported by historical sources, testimonies, and his extensive knowledge of the battlefield.
This lecture offers a special opportunity for anyone interested in the history of the Second World War, the Grebbe Line or the significance of the Grebbeberg for the Netherlands.
The lecture starts at 8:00 PM, doors open at 7:15 PM
