Dickensday Medemblik 2024

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the charming Dickens Day once again took place in the heart of Medemblik. Around 150 performers, musicians, and choir members roamed the market in full Dickens-style attire. It was an incredible success, with an impressively high number of visitors that we look back on with great pride.

Scrooge, Oliver Twist & Dickens

Visitors to this enchanting Christmas market encountered iconic characters from Charles Dickens’ stories, including the grumpy Scrooge, Oliver Twist, and Fagin’s mischievous pickpockets. The market stalls offered a wide variety of goods, ranging from festive Christmas decorations and handcrafted local products to clothing and vintage treasures.

Dining in Dickens style

During Dickens Day, visitors enjoyed a special Dickens menu at various dining establishments. They made their visit a full day out by having a delightful meal before the market, or as a break in between where they sat down at the cozy restaurants in Medemblik town and savor a delicious experience.

Throwback arrival of Sinterklaas 2024

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, Sinterklaas made a grand entrance into Medemblik. Together with his Pieten, he was warmly welcomed by many excited children waiting eagerly on the quay of the Oosterhaven, despite the cold wind and heavy rain.
