THEMATIC EXHIBITION IN THE BASEMENT OF MUSEUM TWISCA
In addition to our permanent exhibition, featuring excavated pottery, carpenter’s tools, the village chest dating from 1700, a cheese press from 1851, a spearhead from the 18th to 17th centuries BC, and many beautiful handicrafts, you can visit the themed exhibition ‘Vanished Shops’ in the atmospheric museum cellar.
Three short films are being shown in the small screening room, including a segment from the 1938 film “Oranjefeesten,” in which several shopkeepers are filmed, including the Stapel brothers with their horse and vegetable cart. The film comes from the Westfries Archive and is being shown with the archive’s permission. Duration: approx. 4 minutes.
