Het Poorthuis
Next to the flour mill De Herder is the picturesque Poorthuis. Like the mill, the Poorthuis can be found in the archives and on various historical drawings since 1500. In the house lived the gatekeeper who locked the city gates at night and against threats from outside. During the rebuilding of the mill from 1986 to 1990, the cottage was also rebuilt according to the original example. From 3 May 2014, the house has been used as a catering facility and has been given a cozy terrace. In the house and on our attractive terrace we serve sandwiches, salads, pies, tapas snacks and a daily snack. We work with seasonal products and from local entrepreneurs. Care is taken to use organic products or products grown without pesticides as much as possible. Bakker Raat from Medemblik bakes mill bread for us from the flour from the mill. This flour is made from organic wheat. Would you like to make a reservation or would you like more information about what is possible in the Poorthuis? Then contact us! Call 06 588 491 28
