The Egboetswater is a gorgeous, peaceful area. It was created in the 70s upon parcelling of the area. Today it is a highly varied forest with ‘old’ trees, bushes, decaying trunks with mushrooms and moss. It houses all kinds of crawlers, songbirds and rabbits. But also owls and other birds of prey. Waterbirds, dragonflies and bats inhabit the edges of the gorgeous lakes.
The area has a spacious setup. A lot of (water)birds are using the Egboetswater as foraging grounds and an escape and resting place. This is a very interesting area for nature lovers. The Boxweide is perfectly suited for sunbathing, playing and picnics. There’s also a mooring dock. The area is only accessible by bicycle, on foot or by boat. You can drive up to the area and park your car near the entrance. IVN-Westfriesland regularly organizes activities in the Egboetswater.
