Sunday 22 June 2025 from 13:30 to 17:00 the Bakery Museum Medemblik organizes in collaboration with Eet!Verleden an inspiring theme afternoon entirely dedicated to bread . Immerse yourself in the rich history of this daily food and enjoy a versatile program full of knowledge, experience and taste!

What can you expect?

  • Lecture by Jacco Spil and Manon Henzen
  • Jacco Spil, director of the Bakery Museum, and Manon Henzen of Eet!Verleden take you on a fascinating journey through the centuries. Using art historical images, you will discover the fascinating role that bread has played in different times and cultures. And as the icing on the cake… a tasty surprise that will be served at the lecture!
  • Tour of the museum
  • Jacco Spil will then guide you through the museum and tell you about the rich history of bread and the special objects, of course with the original shapes of the different breads as they were eaten throughout the centuries, but also bread stamps, patacons and bread tokens that are associated with bread.
  • Bread baking demonstration
  • Our bread baker will give a demonstration during the tour and share his knowledge about the techniques of bread baking. A unique opportunity to experience the craftsmanship up close!
