Lezing: Een naam in het Alkmaarse verzet

  • 11 April 2026
    • 20:00 – 22:00

During the occupation, Veldman was active in the Alkmaar resistance. He helped people in hiding, participated in resistance actions against the occupying forces, was involved in assassinations, and played a role in transporting weapons after Allied airdrops. His resistance work came to an abrupt end when he was killed during the Battle of Rustenburg.

Author Emma Nielsens reconstructed her great-uncle’s life using photos, archival material, and family stories. What began as personal research evolved into the book “Alias LANDMAN,” in which she paints a picture of the daily resistance and its consequences for those involved.

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Emma Nielsens will give a lecture at the Medemblik War Museum. During this event, she will not only present the historical facts but also reflect on the dilemmas, tensions, and choices resistance fighters faced.

The lecture starts at 8:00 PM, doors open at 7:15 PM

You can also come and have a nice meal beforehand at 6:00 PM,

Before the lecture, you can enjoy a delicious 1, 2, or 3-course buffet prepared in original WWII field kitchens. From 6:00 PM, you can watch the Live Cooking and hear how they kept our liberators fed on the West Front for months. The main course we’ll be preparing is the Blauwe Hap, a delicious nasitafel with a story. Come experience this unique experience before the lecture and book it with your lecture ticket.
