Lezing: Burgers in strijd voor het Westfries Erfgoed

  • 16 March 2025
    • 14:00 – 16:00

On Sunday 16 March, Loes Ekhart-Knijn, education employee at the Regional Archives Alkmaar, will give a lecture during the Book Week at the Steam Engine Museum in Medemblik about Citizens in the fight for the West Frisian heritage. The lecture plays on the theme of the Book Week: ‘Your Mother Language’. The West Frisian dialect, one of the many aspects of the West Frisian heritage, also falls under this.

West Frisian Society and Association Oud Hoorn

Both associations have been committed to the preservation and development of West Frisian culture and history for over 100 years. Vereniging Oud Hoorn focuses in particular on the preservation of West Frisian heritage in the municipality of Hoorn. Both associations can only exist by the grace of involved citizens. This afternoon, Loes Ekhart will discuss the development that the associations have undergone over time. And to what extent does this development correspond to the general trend in the Netherlands?

The lecture will be held from 14:00 to 16:00 in the Museum’s Visitor Centre. Admission €7.50 pp including 2 x coffee or tea (excluding museum visit), to be paid before the lecture starts. Museum card holders pay €2.50 pp. Hall opens at 13:30. Reservations (not mandatory) can be made via 0227 544732.
