Pianist Ksenia Kouzmenko returns to Huis Midwoud for a new program featuring Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck, playing our unique 1901 Erard grand piano.

In the years 1838–1840, just before their marriage, Robert and Clara experienced an intense and creative period. Their love had to endure distance and opposition—and often found its most direct expression in music. This recital features song arrangements by Robert Schumann alongside Clara’s Trois Romances, Op. 11, and Schumann’s stirring Kreisleriana, Op. 16: works full of longing, suspense, intimacy, and fervent hope.

Ksenia Kouzmenko is internationally acclaimed for her sensitive and technically impressive piano playing and is a much-loved chamber musician. She studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, among other institutions, and has taught there since 1999. Her repertoire ranges from Bach to Kurtág, with a particular focus on the soundscape of the nineteenth-century Érard grand piano.
