Jazz met Theo Hill & Joris Teepe

Theo Hill is a well-known young pianist from New York City, where he regularly performs with bassist Joris Teepe. Joris was previously a guest at Huis Midwoud together with pianist Rob van Bavel. It is a great honor that Joris, who lives and works half the time in New York, wants to return this afternoon with pianist Theo Hill, who performed in Carnegie Hall and now in the Blüthnerzaal in Huis Midwoud.

Theo Hill is an award winning pianist, composer, teacher and after graduating Cum Laude he played in The Jazz Gallery, Dizzy’s Club Jazz at Lincoln Center, Blue Note Jazz Club, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, Smalls Jazz Club, 55 Bar, The Iridium, Jazz Standard, Zinc Bar, Lenox Lounge, Minton’s, Bill’s Place, Smoke, St. Nick’s Pub, Fat Cat, Shapeshifter Lab and Nublu, to name a few important jazz venues.

Joris Teepe moved to New York in 1992 and had lessons there with the legendary bassist Ron Carter. Joris played with jazz legends such as Benny Golson, Sonny Fortune, Billy Hart and Randy Brecker, is a much sought-after accompanist and can now be heard on no less than 87 CDs with the most diverse international musicians, of which 22 as bandleader. He wrote more than 100 of his own compositions for big bands, chamber music ensembles and symphony orchestras, and is leader of several orchestras, including the Joris Teepe Big Band in NYC.

The Blüthnerzaal in Huis Midwoud will be transformed into a New York Jazz Club and it is 100% certain that it will be a unique, swinging and unforgettable afternoon of international allure.
