A co-production of Theaterkerk Hemels and Wijnbar Rosita. The award-winning film Sideways (2004) is about friendship and wine. Watch the film and learn more about Pinot Noir as a grape and as a wine.
Sideways is about two men who have had their best time: once famous TV actor Jack and the depressed teacher and also failed writer Miles. Jack is getting married, and the two friends celebrate this during a week-long road trip in Santa Barbara County. During this trip they meet several women and drink a lot of wine.
“ No, if anyone orders merlot, I’m leaving. I am NOT drinking any fucking merlot! “. Miles is clearly a big fan of Pinot Noir. The movie was such a big hit twenty years ago that it caused Merlot consumption to drop, and Pinot Noir became a more popular wine. The California wine industry jokingly calls this the “Sideways Effect”.
Before the film screening, wine bar Rosita will give a masterclass on Pinot Noir and you will taste six different Pinot Noirs from all over the world. Of course accompanied by a nice story about the wines by registered vinologist Michael Deen from wine bar Rosita. During the film you can order a bottle of your favorite Pinot Noir.
Total costs for the film and the Pinot Noir Masterclass and tasting are
€37.50.
