Erik de Laeter has rented Huis Midwoud for this afternoon for a special presentation of his own work.

Erik about this afternoon:

“I have been composing since 1991. I had no formal training for this, only classical piano training until I was 18. I have now written almost 200 compositions, mostly solo works for piano.

Over the past 13 years, I’ve participated in 26 piano festivals in Edam, Medemblik, Schagen, Culemborg, Bodegraven, Amstelveen, Wervershoof, and Zwaagdijk. There, I’ve only performed my own works for a limited audience (max. 30 people). I don’t mind this at all, as it’s important for me to connect with my audience. During my performances, I not only play the piano but also share the story behind most of my compositions, along with musical anecdotes and interesting tidbits. I wouldn’t be able to connect that way from a stage in a large hall.

After 35, I’d finally like to organize my own concert. Huis Midwoud is the perfect venue, with a maximum capacity of 48 people. On March 22nd, I’ll be performing some 15 of the most highly acclaimed works at piano festivals, as well as several compositions I’ve never performed publicly before.

Beforehand, Yvo Verschoor will tell something about Huis Midwoud, the instruments that are there and give a short impression of what a film concert entails.

Admission is free, but a voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated! 🙂
