Which band experienced that the drummer parked the bus and walked straight into the pond (he thought it was a grassy field). Where did a bar owner interrupt a performance because the power the band was using was needed to turn on the merry-go-round in front of the bar for fifteen minutes? When did a band fall through a stage and the DJ came running with a toolbox (the bar owner was too busy) asking the rock stars to fix the stage themselves? This and much more in Avondturen; adventures in the evening hours! Adventures of five music friends, presented in a playful way and alternated with Dutch songs that are always about something. Sailing at its best!
After Avondturen the audience leaves the hall in high spirits.
About Sail the Band
Vaart makes songs that are about something. In Dutch!
The band consists of 5 music friends who earned their spurs in the North Holland music circuit. They played covers with the party band Nu of Nooit for 20 years at overcrowded fairs and in steaming party tents. Then Vaart decided it was enough. Making songs yourself, that’s what it’s all about since then.
Vaart uit de Noordkop has already played twice as the opening act for De Dijk and released her first complete album in 2022. Theo Vogelaars and Attie Bauw collaborated on this album. Theo was the legendary bassist of Tröckener Kecks and Attie is the only Dutch producer to have earned two Grammy nominations. The three singles from the album reached 100,000 streams on Spotify in no time. The collaboration promises to continue in 2024!
At festivals, the live experience is expressed. Many an audience sang along to Vaart songs they had never heard before. Eyebrows were raised among festival programmers when they read about the playful Vaart moshpit guarantee. “No moshpit, no fee”, is what it says in the special Vaart festival rider. Vaart has often surprised festival visitors who were planning to watch a band with a beer in their hand at the beginning of the afternoon. What happened: The audience came forward and things got going.
“The power of a good song is that it can also be played very small,” says Vaart. Stripped of roaring amplifiers and pounding drums, they love small theaters where everything has to be right. With an attentive audience, the band cannot afford to make a single mistake, a challenge that has been taken on time and again! For the 2024/2025 theater season, Vaart will play his new theater show Avondturen in which the experiences of a band and beautiful songs follow each other.
