Masterclass Classical in Pop: musical lecture with live guitar and listening examples
Aldo Druyf has gained fame as a classical guitarist and author of books on classical music. In his teens, he played electric guitar in rock bands, but eventually traded his Gibson for a classical guitar and the conservatory. Years later, Aldo bought another electric guitar and discovered that Gary Moore’s song “Still Got the Blues” bore a striking resemblance to a piece by Bach. This sparked his interest in how pop musicians approach the classics. And now, the complete book “Classical in Pop” and the live masterclass are available!
In the interactive masterclass “Classical in Pop,” Aldo Druyf demonstrates how classical masterpieces live on in well-known pop songs. Aldo passionately and clearly shares the stories behind this music. He also plays guitar fragments that connect classical themes and pop melodies. This immediately reveals how closely these worlds actually are connected. This creates not only a captivating performance but also an intimate mini-concert.
The combination of familiarity, depth, and live guitar playing creates an inspiring and relaxed event with plenty of variety. Suitable not only for classical and/or pop music enthusiasts, but also for a wide audience who simply want to enjoy themselves!
